Squaring Circles

Our investigations of circular tessellations bring us naturally to the square. After the curved "triangles", we can try out the curved "squares" (and even the curved "hexagons") to tessellate a surface. By using the examples below try to discover more complicated tessellating patterns. Circular tessellations were very appreciated by islamic artists for the decoration of palaces and mosques.
